I put a sneak peak of this shoot up on the blog a couple of days ago, and now here comes the full spread. This dreamy stunner of a shoot comes to us courtesy of the lovely Jessie Stevens of Simply Jessie Photography. The inspiration behind the shoot was a tea party wedding where the bride waits, alone, as the colors fade and the forest takes over. Event designer Katie Jayne of Jayne Weddings describes her idea this way:
We set the table to reflect how long she waits. Woodland creatures take over the once lush table, flowers are replaced by items found on the forest floor, but the candles still flicker and the linens still gleam a bright shade of purple. Using candle plates instead of typical salad plates brought a nice matte black finish to the table. The chairs were wrapped in a braided fabric rope to make them look festive, but not over the top. Bundles of sticks were wrapped in matching mini rope as a “favor” to the guest.”

Back in December I was honored to be included in a stunning winter-themed shoot with Simply Jessie Photographer, Fleur, and Jayne Weddings. The brief was “tea party in the woods. 100 years ago. But it never ended”. Easy enough, right? My first thought was Miss Havisham, so I took some inspiration from pictures of Helena Bonham Carter in the new version of the tale, and here we are. More pics to come, hopefully in a wedding blog, but in the meantime, enjoy reading about the shoot on Simply Jessie here!
If you know me at all, you will know that I am an impossible romantic (seriously. last night I watched Lord of the Rings and actually got a bit misty when Aragorn and Arwen were reunited. Sigh) who loves anything vintage . Bien sur, when the rest of the images from November’s Vintage Tea Party shoot popped into my inbox today, I had to share. Naturally Yours events owner Carlene Smith has a way with approachable elegance – her impeccable use of texture and color turned Loft On Lake ‘s glamorously industrial interior into a scene straight out of Provence.
Tiny details like the hanging escort table will put guests in the right frame of mind – help them find their seats with escort cards artfully clothespinned to strips of muslin and cotton blooms. Once they get to the reception hall, get creative by decorating with cotton blossoms in vintage tea cups and arrange wintry blooms in shades of pale grey and green in antique milk glass. A mismatched silver service and antiqued gold chargers take the stuffiness out of a formal dinner, and muslin napkins tied with twine and lace add just the right nonchalance. Combine chic simple menus and table cards from Julie Hannan Designs, succulents from Larkspur, and a sweets table from Floriole and Luscious Layers (complete with a traditional croquembouche!), and you will have no trouble convincing guests they are in a rustic barn surrounded by fields of lavender and rosemary.
