FAQ’s
Can I come to try on dresses at your shop?
* We have a small selection of gowns. However, because we specialize in custom, not every gown or size will be available. Give us a call if there is something you’d like to try on!
When I come for a fitting, can I bring a big group?
* Unlike bridal shops that offer pre-made gowns, we recommend that brides come for their initial consultation either by themselves or with a trusted friend. The Mignonette experience is a process ; we have only a select number of gowns to try on.
How much does it cost?
*Collection dresses begin at $550 for short gowns and $700 for long gowns. Custom gowns begin at $900 for tea-length and $1,200 for full-length.
How long does it take?
*We generally ask that brides give us 3-4 months to complete a gown. Rush orders are available for an extra charge.
I don’t know anything about fabric or sewing. Can you help me?
*Absolutely. We want our brides to make the most informed decision about their dress, and we will even take you fabric shopping if you would like to help pick out materials for your gown.
I have a vintage dress. Can you remake it?
*Depending on the project, we can take a vintage gown and revamp it to your specifications.
Can you copy a dress I liked in a magazine?
* We do not copy dresses from other designers, but we can use an existing gown for inspiration!
Can I get anything other than wedding gowns at your shop?
* Absolutely! In addition to our vintage suits and accessories, we also offer a wide range of handmade jewelry, gifts, cards, housewares, and ceremony planning resources, all locally made and all under one roof!

THE PROCESS
New – Read about one bride’s custom experience here!
I believe that a bride should be involved in all aspects of making her gown, from first sketch to final fitting. Each woman has a unique vision of how she wants to look as a bride, and I am so privileged to help bring that vision to life. Everyone deserves the wedding of their dreams without compromise, whether that means a 1920’s-style English net gown for a Roaring 20′s wedding or an Alencon lace gown for a preppy Boston bride. Women choose the bespoke route because they want an experience that you cannot find in traditional bridal shops – working with someone to build an heirloom that is uniquely theirs. We are not designer and client during this process, but partners in creation.
Mignonette offers custom gowns for every woman – the only limit is your imagination! Working closely with the bride every step of the way, we explore the story behind your special dress, and your special day.
The Custom Process
The design of your gown starts with carefully-chosen questions from the designer to help capture the spirit of your unique personality. Throughout the process, the designer uses her expertise as a gown seamstress to advise you on fabrics, fit, and style, ensuring that you will look your best on your wedding day.
Because no two brides are alike, each Mignonette gown is cut to the measurements of the client, and perfected during a series of fittings. Your dress first takes form as a toile, drafted from your body measurements and cut from muslin fabric; this is the stage when we fit the dress to your unique shape. After the toile a paper pattern is cut and then we begin to work with your actual dress fabric. Sewn with love and attention to detail, your perfect dress will gradually take form right before your eyes.
When the time comes, your dress will be cleaned and presented in a garment bag with your wedding date lovingly stitched into the lining.
When you slip it on for the ceremony, you will know that this dress, like the love it is meant to celebrate, is perfect for you.
