Part of the thrill of being in the Chicago wedding industry is getting to discover and work with so many talented small business owners, and yesterday was no exception. The lovely and oh-so-patient Pamela Jameson from Makeup by Pamela and Mandy Schoenbein from Karen Marie Salon showed up bright and early at the store at 8am (yikes!) to add a bit of glamour to our gorgeous models Laura, Tasha, and Anthony.  I’m so impressed by their ability to adapt to any situation – after all, a store isn’t exactly the ideal place full beauty overhaul, but Pamela and Mandy never batted an eye (keep that in mind when you’re looking for hair and makeup for your ceremonies, folks)!

After getting everyone camera-ready, it was over to the WGN studios on Beverly to film. Although security directed us to dressing room #1, Anne had to make a quick stop to take a picture with her idol.

While the models got dressed, I popped into the studio to see what the setup was like.  It is so thrilling to be part of the Green Wedding Alliance – from the delectable truffles of Katherine Anne Confections to the charming letterpress of Tweedle Press and the gorgeous flowers from Pollen, even the most time-crunched couple can plan a chic, modern ceremony without sacrificing their eco-friendly values.

When it was time for filming to begin, those of us not on-camera all stood around like proud parents taking Iphone pictures and talking about how cute everyone looked.

I kept moving the models back and forth trying to find the best angle for them. It was exactly like taking pictures before prom.  Ok, you kids, lean in and smile!

Right now, Anthony feels like the luckiest man in the world.

I’ve been crazy about English net lately – it’s so soft, and even when you’re wearing about 20 layers of it, you feel like you’re floating on a cloud of meringue.  To celebrate how much I love it, I decided to create this gown, the Brit.

This gown looks good on absolutely everybody. To prove it, click on the pictures below to see it on two very different ladies.

A double-layer of English net is backed with silk habutai and silk charmeuse while on top, hand-pieced (by me!) corded Guipure lace is boned and lined with delicious silk charmeuse. A top layer of English net adds subtlety and a demure element.  The finishing touch is appliqued lace accents on the sleeves and the back.  Slip it on and get carried away!

Full length gown in English net, silk habutai, silk charmeuse, and Guipure lace. Available in white, ivory, and black. Gown includes a detachable black grosgrain belt. $1100.
