About Kpoene’ Kofi-Nicklin, Creative Director

If not under, inside of, or taking apart a dress, Kpoene’ can usually be found talking about dresses. After founding Mignonette as a RTW label in 2002, she set her sights on couture and studied at FIT, with stops in SF as a retail and museum buyer along the way honing her skills in retail and customer experience and becoming passionate about gown shopping and the gown experience. After landing in Chicago in 2010 she opened Mignonette Bridal and dedicated herself to making every bride who walked through the door feel uniquely gorgeous. Kpoene’ has contributed to Jezebel, Catalyst, XO Jane, The Chicago Sun Times, Martha Stewart, the New York Times, Yahoo, and AOL. Her gowns have been featured in Martha Stewart, Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, Magnolia Rouge, Huffington Post, Modern Luxury, Wedluxe, Sisters In Law Blog, Smashing the Glass, and The Knot, as well as numerous blogs, and Mignonette has been named one of the best bridal salons in the US by Brides Magazine, and one of the best salons in Chicago by Brides Magazine, Time Out, Refinery 29, Daily Candy, and Racked. A graduate of Middlebury College, FIT, and the Goldman Sachs 10KSB Program, Kpoene’ is passionate about travel, design and the feminist history of clothing, especially wedding gowns; in 2014 she was named an Editor’s Choice Finalist for the Martha Stewart American Made Award and in 2016 she received an Artists Grant from the City of Chicago. Don’t ask her about couture or her opinions on design unless you are prepared to talk for hours. If she looks vaguely familiar, you may have seen her on the TLC, CBS, or WGN discussing her favorite wedding trends. If you can’t find her, she’s probably on set, but it doesn’t hurt to check the nearest Starbucks.
