We love to live in the world of dreams. Join us for a trip to a fantasy land of whimsy, undone hair, and bright flowers everywhere as we revisit some of our favorite real Mignonette weddings, lookbook shoots, and editorials that deserve their own spotlight.

Real bride: Lauren

One of our all-time favorite weddings, this classic bride with a twist took us completely by surprise with the sweet emotion of her big day. She describes her normal style as “Audrey Hepburn and Kate Spade meet to go shopping at Anthropologie and vintage stores”, and when you see her mix of quirk and ladylike details you’ll get it. Click through these images from Dana Ann Photography to see why we adored her.

Black Girl Magic in iceland

Dive into an impossibly-romantic world of wild landscapes and modern fairy tales with selections from one of my favorite styled shoots to one of my favorite places: The south coast of Iceland. Click through these images from Severin Photography to see how we channeled the spirits of May Morris and Fanny Eaton to bring this trip to life with an all-Black cast of creatives.

staying gold in the netherlands

Travel is at the heart of Mignonette Bridal, so whenever I get on a plane I try to pack a gown with me (seriously. Sometimes I don’t even pack any clothes of my own just so there’s more room). On this trip Silvia Falcomer took us through De Negen Straatjes just as the sun was rising to get these perfect images.

Every once in awhile a bride comes along who makes you glad you decided to pursue the path you did, and Nikki-Jay was one of those for us all. This South African bride’s uncompromising vision for her perfect day included platform sneakers, a braid crown, and the sparkliest dress she could get her hands on. So grateful that she chose Mignonette as her fairy godmothers for her look. Click through to see why this dress ended up in the Huffington Post.

If you’re lucky, you’ll eventually have a design that hits the zeitgeist just right, and for us it was this skirt/bodysuit combo (the Gris skirt and Hayley bodysuit, available here), photographed by Studio 29 and styled to the nth degree of moody perfection. For a little while after this shoot was published, this was the most-liked pin on the Green Wedding Shoes Instagram, and they named it one of their favorite dresses of 2017 (OMG). Someone even did a watercolor painting of it for us, AND it even got knocked off by a shady Chinese website that sells cheapo designer copies - truly, I knew at that moment that we had arrived.

It may seem like an unusual hobby for a wedding gown designer, but surface design is a favorite hobby of min - I love making new designs out of existing patterns, and especially love drawing on the work of Louis Sullivan, Alphonse Mucha, and May Morris (and her father) to create pieces that bridge Art Nouveau and Edwardian. This shoot with Lisa Beth Anderson and Nimble Well drew on those periods and Art Deco for a series inspired by the roaring 20’s (complete with a dip in the pool). Click over to see why this was a wedding blog favorite.

Ms. mignonette

The brief for this shoot was Ted Baker-meets-Giovanna Bataglia, which in this case meant gorgeous gowns mixed with unexpected touches (a wall-mounted pheasant that tipped over and stayed that way, ceramic dogs, fur-trimmed stilettos, an 18th-century bas relief of a child’s head), and set the direction for our ideal client, a woman who doesn’t take her luxury, or herself, too seriously.
